How to set up your bathroom for a Valleys Human Design Environment
A little place that you don’t always have a lot of control over design-wise, the bathroom is another room in your home where your Environment will come into play.
Maybe you have a favourite washroom in your home or went to one in a fancy restaurant that you loved — what features did you resonate with?
Why does that bathroom feel best to be in?
If you’re designing a bathroom from scratch it’s one thing, but when the toilet, tub and sink are already secure to the floor, what are some other features you could consider and play with when it comes to the place you poop in?

Alternative toilets
Take your toilet to another place; try something fancy, a bidet, the squatty potty — you name it. Getting your legs up can help you release your bowels by changing the shape and arrangement of your insides. Valleys People thrive low to the ground—ear to the ground, plugged in. Experiment with different poses on your toilet, and notice how this changes your bowel movements. And if you’re someone who menstruates, the Tushy bidet will totally change your bathroom rituals!
Go all out on the bathtub/shower
Whether you can renovate this or are stuck with what you have, ensure the bathtub is always clean and that your products are available — within reach. Ensure there is no mold or mildew, and regularly tidy this space as your schedule allows. Consider how you can bring in tools to help keep this area clean. Reglaze an old tub, change out the tile surround, or add a rack/shelves to have enough space for your products. The vibe needs to be good in this space.
Organized tools
Organize your drawers and cabinets so that everything is easily in a container. Imagine you reach under the sink to grab your bath basket — it has bubbles, bath bombs, a loofah, and your favourite water pillow. Pull out the basket and set it on the tub when you get in so your items are available. Consider how the items within your storage units can be kept in bags, cute boxes or baskets. You may even love to have a board to put on your bath that allows you to set things on it; like a drink, a laptop, book, or iPad.
Lots of storage
Wherever you can add storage — do it. Whether it’s under the sink, over the toilet, in the shower, or if it requires creating a built in or buying a new unit, try to have everything you need kept in this space, rather than having to go out to another room to get a towel or your washing items. Look at the space available to you and get creative with your storage needs.
Reading material
Keep a basket of magazines or books somewhere near the toilet so you can reach for them when you’re sitting there for a longer than desired time. Just imagine ritualistically flipping through magazines or books while you’re doing your business.
Styled with a mood
How do you want to feel in your bathroom? What mood, vibe, or ambience do you want to set there? Do you want it deep and moody? Fresh and clean? Glam and luxurious? Regardless of the design of the other rooms in your home, the bathroom is an easy space to go all out in and create a vibe using scents, colours, textures and materials. Tune in to how you want this space to feel, and how you want to feel when you’re in there.
Self-care tools and rituals
Whatever your fun self-care rituals are, consider how you can prioritize and take good care of the items you use to support you in these rituals. Whether you love to do an at-home pedicure with soaks, a sits bath or vaginal steam, red light mask, etc, have a set out space that these items belong in — like it’s there little home! Every time you need them, they’ll be there. And if any of these items require power or a charge, ensure your bathroom can accommodate that.
Sound rituals
Going for a soak? Set up your luxurious bath or cleansing ritual by creating a playlist and infusing it into the space safely. While you may not have built in speakers or sound system in this place (that would be very cool though), bringing sound into the space when you’re using it can create a soothing atmosphere. Valleys People benefit from rituals. The rhythm, through time and repetition, can be deeply soothing for Valleys. Since you will have your own shower and bathing ritual, consider how you can make this more ceremonial with music.
