How to set up your cooking space for a Shores Human Design Environment
When I say cooking space, I’m talking about the literal kitchen in your home. But since the third Human Design Environment is also called Kitchens, I didn’t want to create something that read like “Set up your Kitchen for a Kitchen” — kind of thing.
When it comes to setting up the kitchen space in your home, you may not have the ability to so easily change up some of the room’s elements, like appliances, counters, etc.
In this series, I’m sharing ways to work with the space available to you, while keeping your Environment in mind. I’ll also share some ideal setups for the rare opportunity you may get to highly customize a space to suit you!
Two sides
An island could be fun — so could a galley-style kitchen. What you’re looking for is two sides to a space; a front and a back. This side or that side. The side with the cabinets, and the side with the windows. The center island; the perimeter counters. When hanging out in the kitchen, notice which side you hang out on more.
View over the sink
It’s important for Shores People to have something to look at. If you find yourself doing the dishes over the sink, consider how a window (and what it’s viewing) gives you something to observe and look at. This can make the experience more pleasant rather than head down looking at the dishes. How can you shift your view into another world?
See-thru fridge
A Shores Dream! A glass fridge where you can see all your beautiful ORGANIZED or TRENDY items? You better believe if you have a glass fridge you are displaying your food in cute containers. Being able to see into another world — inside the fridge — is very fun and very shoresy.
Glass cabinets
Same concept as the fridge; being able to see into the cabinets by having glass in your cabinetry lets you see into the world of the cupboard. Gaaaaze upon your stacked dinnerware or organized handmade mugs.
Bright
Skylights, big windows with natural light, an interesting window, cool lights or light fixtures — these are important details for any room for you, but consider this in the kitchen and cooking space. This is not an area where you want to be in the dark or beneath an unflattering fluorescent light. That is not going to be very appealing for preparing your food or eating around, and we do need to prepare your body to eat.
Walk-in pantry
Walk in to another world! The space that holds our food. A pantry that you can step into is a dreamy space to store your food in as a Shores Person, rather than storing everything in the actual kitchen itself. Standing in the pantry and looking back into the kitchen can absolutely have a strange regulating effect on you because you are most often looking into the pantry. Not everyone gets a walk-in pantry so this one is cool to experience if you get the opportunity!
Kitchen Flip
Should you get the opportunity, something very special for a Shores Person to experience is to flip the kitchen with a renovation. Transform the space into something new; create a before and after. A flipped space where you have experienced the two worlds, the old and the new, can be a healing site for you.
