How to set up your cooking space for a Mountains Human Design Environment
When I say cooking space, I’m talking about the literal kitchen in your home. But since the third Human Design Environment is also called Kitchens, I didn’t want to create something that read like “Set up your Kitchen for a Kitchen” — kind of thing.
When it comes to setting up the kitchen space in your home, you may not have the ability to so easily change up some of the room’s elements, like appliances, counters, etc.
In this series, I’m sharing ways to work with the space available to you, while keeping your Environment in mind. I’ll also share some ideal setups for the rare opportunity you may get to highly customize a space to suit you!
Upper cabinets
Creating something of interest above eye level helps draw the eye up, elevating the whole spirit. We love this for a Mountains Person! Imagine your space subtly influencing you to uplift your spirit in the background? Wonderful. How can the upper cabinets in your kitchen be interesting and elevated to you? What type of features might uplift your spirits or raise your views?
Minimal features
There is a minimization and sleekness that comes with the Mountain. When you are far up on the hill, everything out there looks smaller; smoother; softer. How can these same themes be brought into the home? Consider ways you can soften the corners in your cooking space, or create a sleekness through organization, colour or design features.
Waterfall counter
An ideal option for a Mountains Person to try one day, this sleek counter feature is when the stone used in the counter spills over the edge and down to the floor, looking like one continuous piece of marble or stone. Rather than looking like a stone sitting on top of a wooden cabinet, this luxurious feature simplifies the lines and colours used in the space — so Mountains. It really takes things to another level.
Soft closing cabinets
Luxury featuuuure! Gone are the days of the noisy distracting cabinets that send annoying and piercing energy into your oasis space. When considering how you can “soften” your space to bring it to the Mountain level, soft-closing cabinets are a great option to play with. Practical AND essential.
Fancy Appliances
Is there a particular appliance style you have your heart set on? Do you want a Smeg fridge? A gas stove? A pot-filler? If you want to splurge on something, consider the appliances in your space and how essential they are to your day to day lifestyle, and the type of nutrition those appliance can create in this space.
Separate Dining & Cooking Spaces
This is the room we do the cooking in. This is the room we do the eating in. This is the room we do the sleeping in. This is the room we… Mountains people are still people who somewhat resonate to the Cave. There is a relationship to security and simplicity — essentials and needs. Having designated spaces can be both elevated and a privilege, while keeping things simple and orderly.
Consider your tools
Depending on how much you like to use your space (how much you like to cook or bake), consider what your essentials tools or appliances might be, and how you could invest in top quality lines. Maybe you need a high end mixer for all your baking! When it comes to your essentials, how can you go high end or top of the line?
