How to set up your bathroom for a Kitchens Human Design Environment
A little place that you don’t always have a lot of control over design-wise, the bathroom is another room in your home where your Environment will come into play.
Maybe you have a favourite washroom in your home or went to one in a fancy restaurant that you loved — what features did you resonate with?
Why does that bathroom feel best to be in?
If you’re designing a bathroom from scratch it’s one thing, but when the toilet, tub and sink are already secure to the floor, what are some other features you could consider and play with when it comes to the place you poop in?

Hand towel moment
Bring in some interest and stimulation by having fun with your hand or body towels. Try a bright colour, pattern, or the latest new trend. Whenever you need to switch up the bathroom space, changing the towels is an easy way to bring new colour and stimulation into the space.
Gave fun with your shower curtain
This is a great space to bring in some colour, stimulation, texture and layers. Consider a great pattern, mural-style curtain, or something with weight. You can also try more than one style and switch them out when you feel it’s time to change things up — something you’re sensitive to once in a while.
Soaker tub
If the bathroom could be centred around an amazing soaker tub, it will pull focus and be the exciting thing in the bathroom that you always look forward to using… the soaker tub is like a giant POT or CAULDRON. Kitchens people are alchemists, mystics, creatives, artists. Keep all your bath bombs, salts, soaps, shampoos and potions on the ready. Think of this as a giant therapeutic cauldron for your body; spells, magic, transformation. What potion will you create to take care of your body?
Multi-person shower
Kitchens people love to bump bodies. Running into someone you know in town? Fun! How can this energy come into the bathroom? Having an oversized shower or shower that can comfortably fit more than one person will be super fun for a Kitchens Person. While, yes, it may be fun for sex and flirting, it can also be more fun having another person in your shower with you sometimes. Bumping into each other, washing each other, chatting — making magic together while you’re getting ready to start your day, or winding down at the end of one.
Trendy materials
Kitchens People are often trendy in that they have their finger on the pulse of what’s happening around them — based on what they’re interested in. I remember there was a pink and terrazzo moment, and every Kitchens Person I knew was VERY into that trend. Another trend was rounded bead-board, plant walls and macrame! Whatever the season, whatever the trend, notice the materials and styles that catch your eye, and don’t be afraid of doing something trendy and current, infusing that healthy energy into your bathroom. While you can definitely go for a “timeless” approach, Kitchen’s people are prone to switching things up and are influenced by what is current! This is great for them. So — what would be cool to you?
Art pieces
This is a very easy way to create interest in the bathroom. Kitchens People have a certain stimulation they need in their environment, whether they are more relaxed or activated in their Kitchen space. Some kind of great art to look at while you’re waiting on toilet is a GREAT idea. Think of those paintings you could look at for a long time, always discovering something new in it. While you can hang absolutely anything, consider what would be interesting to look at for a chunk of time.
Trendiest products
Whether it’s a new body butter, facial oil, tongue scraper, or expensive shampoo, the items you use in your bathroom are really important and add to the experience you have there. You may even want to display your products in your bathroom some how, so they are easy to reach for and visually stimulating. You will likely be drawn to things with fun packaging sometimes too! Consider a cute way to keep this on your counter, shelves in your shower, or a glass display cabinet.
